Biography
On 1984, 24th of February a little baby boy was born in Lome ; he was named as Emmanuel Adebayor, nobody could apprehend at that time that he will once be one of icons of international soccer world.
Form his early youth, Emmanuel Adebayor was addicted to soccer and he was mostly known for his speed and aggressiveness. This trait in his professional career made him world famous and fetched his affiliation as one of the swiftest strikers of the world with a massive aggressiveness in attacking the game and in gaming goal.
Adebayor started his soccer career in a local club of Lome and there he used to play at U-15 standard. This time he was observed by the authority of French club FC Metz and he joined the club in that year and was promoted to the soccer level U-17. This happened in the year 1999 and from then onward Adebayor never looked back in his professional career.
Adebayor continued to play U-17 level game for two years before he joined any club and after joining the French club he played 9 matches and scored 2 goals. In the session 2002-2003 he appeared in 35 matches and scored 17 goals, which turned the sight of all soccer lovers towards his performance and it was granted that a new star was born in the world of soccer.
From this time onward there was an under the table combat between Arsenal and AS Monaco and due to some undefined reason Arsenal was down and AS Monaco took the enlistment of Adebayor in their team for the striker position. In the year 2003 on behalf of AS Monaco, Adebayor performed in 17 matches and scored 7 goals. In fact but for his striking contribution for AS Monaco was qualified in the quarter final round of the Champion League. However, he had to skip the final match as he appeared for Monaco in the qualifying round that year so he was not eligible to represent another team in the same season. In 2006, January 13, Arsenal took this legendary striker under their banner and he was given a nick name as baby Kanu.
In Arsenal the jersey no 25 was allotted to Adebayor; it was his dream number because in Arsenal his idol Nwankwo Kanu used to wear that number and Adebayor was called baby Kanu because the fans and co-players found much similarity in the playing style of these two players. Adebayor proudly holds that fact that people see the shadow of his idol in his playing style.
2006-2007 was a successful year for Adebayor because he played for Arsenal with his best output till date. He scored many goals for Arsenal and was responsible for many victories in local tournaments in national level. On 2006 November 8, Adebayor the match winning goal, which qualified Arsenal for the quarter final of League cup against Everton.
After scoring a penalty in the 3-1 match with Portsmouth, Adebayor’s goals against Tottenham helped Arsenal to win in the first derby of London of the season. This is the first time he scored a hat-trick. His second hat-trick was on 22nd September, 2007 in Derby County and this hat-trick he scored at the Emirates. He was involved in a controversial event on 22nd January 2008; at that time he had a clash with his teammate Nicklas Bendtner.
In Carling Cup against Chelsea he was shown a red card for badly hurting a player in the penalty box area and also he became involved in another dispute which caused him to get a red card. He was fined with an amount of 7500 GBP and was banned for three consecutive matches in that season for the offence of defiance to the instruction of match referee and showing impertinence in the ground.
Adebayor was elected by Nigeria to play international tournament but it is his love for his country which inspired him to play for Togo and in fact in that year it was his 11 goals that placed Togo in the qualifying team list. For his contribution, Adebayor was nominated the African Footballer of the season.
Emmanuel Adebayor is a young soccer player and a long professional career is still ahead of him. Now he is playing in Arsenal in the striker position and we do not know anything about his future, but till date the soccer lovers will remember him for his excellent line of control, striking power, aggressiveness and hunger for success. He will ever be remembered for his abrupt style of playing in the history of football.
